Discovery Day Camp
Creating 55 years of wonderful camp memories, Discovery Day Camp offers campers ages 3 to 15 years old a hero’s journey -- a quest for self-discovery, with endless opportunities for exploration, in a world of creativity, culture and socialization. Discovery Day Camp creates a sense of wonder and joy through activities that have meaning and purpose and that will to contribute to the development of child’s character, which in turn will make a positive contribution to our global community. Accredited by the OCA, our amazing camp is connected to an internationally recognized school, TMS.
TMS Discovery Day Camp is inviting applications from motivated, inspired individuals for:
Swim Instructor/Lifeguard (June 24 - August 16)
Reporting to the Camp Director, and working under the Deck Supervisor this position is responsible for diligently monitoring the activities in the pool areas to prevent accidents and provide a safe environment to campers. The successful candidate is also responsible for delivering swim instruction to campers 4-12 years of age as well as assisting with pool maintenance.
The successful candidate will be working with a fantastic group of staff and students who are guided by our TMS Ideals of Respect, Strive, and Make Good Choices.
Qualifications/Skills/Experience:
● Preference given to those applicants with previous lifeguard and swim instructor experience within a camp and pool setting
● Red Cross Swim Instructors certification
● Current National Lifeguard Service (NLS) qualifications
● Additional aquatic qualifications an asset (Pool Operator, Aquatic Safety inspector, NLS Instructor, Lifesaving instructor, swim instructor, instructor trainer)
● CPR and First Aid Training is an asset
● A current Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check
● Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
● Demonstrate effective problem solving skills
